3 of the Biggest Companies in the World
The most profitable companies and the biggest companies in the world may not see eye to eye when it comes to average annual profits. The most profitable companies have long remained the oil and energy ones, some of which do little with growth and expansion for employment opportunities. The top company for profits is Gazprom Oil in Russia, however, the 3 biggest companies in the world supercede it in size. The 3 biggest companies in the world have shot their way to the top and into the stratosphere. They are:
1. Walmart
In a world dependent on oil, who would have thought a retail chain could
squeeze past them and leave them in the dust. Walmart employs more than
2.1 million people around the world and needs little to no advertising
to get the sales. Walmart was built by offering consumer value and low
prices, and word travels fast on where to find the best bargain deals.
Walmart's discount merchandise can be found across the globe and this
mega discount retailer serves more than 176 million customers every
week.
2. Royal Dutch Shell
Royal Dutch Shell, or more commonly know as Shell, has its headquarters
in the Netherlands and operates in over 90 countries around the world.
In addition to supplying petroleum products, Shell is an industry leader
in alternative energy with biofuels, solar and wind power, and
hydrogen. Shell employs 101,000 workers and their annual revenue for
2010 tipped the scales at over 368 billion.
3. Exxon Mobile
Exxon Mobile has ranked number one or two as the largest public trading
company and pulled in a whopping 31.398 billion in 2010. Employing over
83,000 people, Exxon Mobile is a world-class leader in fuels, lubricants
and petrochemicals. The Exxon and Mobile corporations merged into one
in 1999, and both companies are an off-shoot from John D. Rockefeller's
Standard Oil Company in 1904. Exxon Mobile has plenty of room to grow
some more, and share holders and employees take the gain.
